Diversity programs develop GEMS. Employees who utilize their individual strengths, develop as leaders and who become organizational representatives that attract others to your organizations, benefit through their experiences and growth by:

  4. Enhancing their value to all
If you aren't mining GEMS you aren't growing your organization. Our employees are rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and diamonds. The individuals we empower, the leaders we develop and the settings we create can increase employees' brilliance, their uniqueness and enhance our assets

There are three aspects that individuals have within their organization, whether they are on the front line or in senior management. How they behave within those roles can help or hinder the development of the people around them, the organization and ultimately themselves.

The three aspects are:

  1. Individual worker
  2. leader
  3. organizational representative.
GEMS - Leading in a Diverse World explores how these three aspects manifest success.

Individual Worker: The individual worker needs to grow and evolve. They do this through their

  • Intention to learn more
  • Freedom to do more
  • Ability to receive positive support
Leader: Every employee is also a leader. They can impact the people around them by:
  • Being a positive role model
  • Teaching others
  • Offering support to help others
  • Be willing to receive help from others
Organizational Representative: As Organizational representative's employees are continually advertising to the community, their family, friends and potential clients (a) who the organization hires (b) what they organization values (c) how the organization serves the community and the world. When employees understand their role as organization representative the organization manifests success.

Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Repeat the three different aspects of GEMS employees
  • Describe the qualities of each of the three aspects
  • Propose ideas to educate their employees about the three aspects
  • Discuss how they themselves embody the three aspects.
Participants will leave the program:
  • Enthusiastic (the program is highly interactive, motivational and fun)
  • Prepared to communicate to others the definition of the three aspects
  • With ideas to implement a GEMS focused plan of action
  • With an appreciation of their own value based on the three aspects
