Secret Key to Asking

Magic sauce Ask for what you want

There is a secret key to achieving your dreams.  The key is asking. It is one of the most daunting action steps a person can take, and the most liberating.

There are many ways of asking, for most situations it starts with these three steps.

1. Decide what you want, specifically, know what you want overall. Then decide what you want in specifics (really break it down)

2. Know who to ask

3 Ask

It all sounds so simple.  I know it isn’t.

Nurture Your Highest Perspective of Self

Nurture your highest perspective of self. Focus all your energy on your best self. Keep mindful of your magnificence and influence.  It isn’t easy in the world of social media and public critics. It is challenging when your biggest critic is yourself.

I wish there were blinders I could give you that would prevent you from comparing you to you (your reality now with your powerful, amazing now) and you to others.

I would rather you look at you from a higher perspective filled with the adoration, appreciation and expectation.Who you already are and who you strive to be and that you are living the story you want to live.

During my Influence coaching practice, I encounter brilliant leaders sometimes struggling with the story they tell themselves over and over and getting frustrated because they really want to live another story, what they perceive is their future story.

We work on shifting their current perception of self to their highest perspective of self. There are a lot of processes and techniques to get there.

These are five recommendations all of my leaders hear from me.

Leaders Be Memorable It Is Possible

Be a memorable character.

Someone I recently met at a conference emailed me and shared “Wow, You are a memorable character!

I shared the comment on a Facebook group that gives Women’s Leadership Advice. I received responses from women saying “Go Girl” “You Rock” and so on. I also received a response saying

“That is rude, why would someone write that?” I realized that many lurkers probably thought the same thing, Which leads me to write this post, “Are You Memorable?” and more importantly “Are You a Memorable Character?” It’s not rude to be called a memorable character, it’s awesome and powerful!

Some of the best leadership advice I ever received was from one of my sponsors and a CSMO (Chief Sales and Marketing Officer) named Al Roth. He said, “People remember you, promote you, sponsor you, hire you, buy from you and refer you because they remember you are a positive character.

In researching this post concept I came across the concepts of how writers create memorable characters. Those beloved characters in books we reach, movies we watch and stories we heard. How do writers see memorable characters?

Fear Speaking to Diverse Stakeholders? or Do You Just Fear Speaking?

Leaders who are petrified to speak publicly lack the ability to influence,  impact or inspire others.

When leaders fear speaking in public  their ability to speak powerfully and influentially holds them back.  Sometimes they are fearful because they are speaking to  groups that they don’t know or connect with, yet to lead and inspire they must speak to diverse groups. The thoughts: “Am I relatable? Am I relevant? Why me, why now? ”

Hearing “let your voice be heard, ” won’t cut it. When you avoid speaking that advice will not help you reach your goals

Many of our clients have spoken to groups throughout their careers. They did well, however, what worked then may not work now. At this point in their career many are at a higher level and are speaking to a large assortment of groups. The expectations are to have greater impact, influence and inspire others to action.  This can trigger their fears.

When I work with leaders, entrepreneurs and politicians who must have the ability to have impact, influence and be able to inspire others,  I find that these are some of the most common fears:

  • Speaking to diverse groups
  • Being able to influence audience members to take action
  • They won’t look confident, competent, charismatic and capable.

Learn the 7 Truths of The Entrepreneurial Leader

7 Truths of The Entrepreneurial Leader

The truths  are how entrepreneurs have the confidence, courage. and lead with pure clarity.

Last night my husband and I watched two entrepreneurial movies. One was about Ray Kroc and McDonald’s, called The Founder with Michael Keaton the other was called “Gold” with Matthew McConaughey.

The movies reminded me of  7 truths of an entrepreneurial leader.  Both  movies were about dreams, sacrifices, hard knocks, persistence, determination, choices and absolute vision. I am grateful that I have lived the truths and continue to them.

Success Power Poem “I am grateful, responsible & …”

Life has bumps, life is a roller coaster, stuff happens. Your Success Power comes from how you react to the stuff. Your reactions and actions determine your life experience.

There are two key power messages that when humans get it, they can change everything.

  1. I am responsible to and for me.
  2. I trust me

Here is a poem/statement I wrote about on those two statements.  You can click on the image or link to receive a pdf of the poem so you can post on your desk, mirror, or desk to remind you of who you really are.
