Effervescent, joyous and a true leader. Michele is inspiring. There have only been 3 women who had the role of chairman. The last woman to hold the position was twenty years ago. A lot has changed since then and Michele McManamon, who was is also co-owner and operator of Sandler Training in Jacksonville, Florida was going to be all in and make a difference.
She did. She and her team raised over 8.5 million dollars for charity.
Her Four Key Leadership Tips
1. Invest the time to know the organization
2. You are in charge of creating the culture
3. Be you. Be authentic and open to new experiences
4. Use leadership love to build a team
How she used Jon Gordon and his book “The Energy Bus” to create a positive culture and inspire her team
Leading 2,000 volunteers and being committed to ensuring an outstanding experience for all led Michele McManamon to reach out to her friend Jon Gordon. She and the PGA purchased books as required reading for her leadership team. She infused the concepts throughout the organization and she asked Jon to speak to the volunteers to solidify the message.
Her fascinating approach to leading men
Her biggest advice is to be yourself and to listen carefully to the language used.
Be yourself – she is not a golfer and led a golfing initiative. She used her passion for the outcome raising money for not for profits to drive the work for all.
Explore new adventures – while not a golfer she is a hunter and used her experiences to be connected on the course and in other team building experiences.
